My First Month at King Street
It's been about four weeks since I started my internship here at King Street and I thought it would be fun to tell you how it has been.
Some background information on me: I study the program “Media, English and Globalization” at Södertörns University and this is my last semester. As a part of my program, we have one semester where we can choose between studying abroad, studying another subject or having an internship. As you probably already understood, I chose the internship.
Nothing can prepare you for the nervousness that hits you the day before you start in a new workplace. Especially when it feels like everything you have been learning during the education has been theory, theory and even more theory. Since I already have had a semester abroad, I thought it would be smartest (and most fun!) to complement my education with actual practical knowledge - and luckily, I ended up at King Street!
The night before the internship started, I was so nervous that I could barely sleep, but everyone at the office was super friendly and nice so my nervousness quickly vanished. The more tasks that I do, the more I understand how my very theoretical education has semi-prepared me for working life.
Despite my initial nervousness, I think it is gone very well. It helps that the people I am working with are accommodating and always willing to answer questions about things I do not know. So, after a month here, I can happily tell you that I have learned so much and that I am looking forward to learning more during the rest of my internship!
